Ingredients:
1 lb ground sausage
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/4 cup chopped bell peppers
1 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 can chunky Italian-style tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon anise seed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 loaf French bread
1/4-1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
coarsely ground pepper

Directions:
In a skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink.
Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, cook onion and green pepper until tender, drain.
Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes and seasonings.
Add meat to sauce.
Cut a wedge out of top of bread about 2 inches wide and 3/4 way through the loaf.
Fill loaf with meat sauce.
Sprinkle with cheese and ground pepper.
Wrap in heavy-duty foil.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 30 minutes or until heated through.
