Asparagus is a delicious and healthy vegetable that is a great addition to any meal. It is a versatile ingredient that can be cooked in a variety of ways, including grilling, roasting, steaming, and sautéing. Here is a simple recipe for cooking asparagus that will bring out its natural flavor and texture.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bunch of asparagus
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the asparagus under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Trim the woody ends of the asparagus. To do this, hold the asparagus spear at the bottom and gently bend it until it snaps. The woody end will break off naturally at the point where the spear becomes tender.
  3. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  4. Place the asparagus on a baking sheet, and drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Roast the asparagus in the oven for 12-15 minutes, or until tender and slightly charred.

Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your asparagus. Thicker asparagus will take longer to cook. You can check for doneness by piercing the thickest part of the spear with a fork. If it goes in easily, the asparagus is done.

You can also grill asparagus for a smoky flavor, with similar preparation.

Serve the asparagus hot as a side dish or add it to your favorite salads, pizzas or pastas.

Enjoy!
