1 tablespoon full-bodied red wine ( such as cabernet)
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground

Thoroughly combine strawberries, balsamic vinegar, wine, sugar, and black pepper in a mixing bowl.
