Churros are a popular Spanish treat that are made from a dough that is deep-fried and then sprinkled with sugar. They are often served with a chocolate dipping sauce, making them a delicious and satisfying dessert. Here is a simple recipe for making churros at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water, butter, and salt to a boil.
  2. Once the butter has melted, remove the pan from the heat and add the flour. Stir until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. The dough should be smooth and glossy.
  4. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Fill a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip with the dough.
  6. Pipe the dough into the hot oil, cutting it into 4-5 inch lengths with a knife or scissors.
  7. Fry the churros until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Dust with sugar while still warm.
  10. Serve the churros with a chocolate dipping sauce, if desired.

Note: You can also use a plastic bottle or a funnel with a large tip. Also, if you want to make them sweeter you can add sugar while making dough. It’s also important that you keep an eye on oil temperature, it should be between 365-375F.
