Sometimes women are saying that they are barely eating anything but still gaining weight. Meanwhile, experts believe that if you are disappointed with your waist size although you are following diet, exercising and trying to get into shape, it may not be related to your food intake.

It is likely that you do not pay any attention to your liver which is responsible for your health and your weight. Have you ever considered that liver is a crucial organ involved in many bodily functions, such as the removal of toxins? Besides, liver is body’s biochemical lab. It is important for blood circulation, it produces bile and stores A, D, K and B vitamins, iron glycogen, which is the source of energy.

So, if you are addicted to fatty foods, alcohol and many other unhealthy products, it is likely that your liver is “fatigued” and just cannot handle its functions. What does this mean? Not only it means that it is necessary to clean the body, but also that you are gaining weight, especially in the areas of your abdomen and waist and it will be difficult to lose those pounds.

Before taking any actions, check if you do have any liver problems, which manifest as tiredness, insomnia, rashes, acne, indigestion, flatulence, dizziness, high cholesterol level, jumping sugar levels in the blood, which makes us feel thirsty and too energetic, or too tired.

What can we do to improve liver function?

  • Quit smoking.
  • Do not drink alcohol.
  • Drink lots of water. Avoid foods high in sugar and various sweeteners, hydrogenated fat, additives, hormones, preservatives, artificial colourings. Food should be as pure as possible, fresh, and raw – after all, it’s your liver which has to fight all the “evils”, so choose carefully.
  • Cabbage aids to remove toxins from the body, you can choose from brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, broccoli and all other species. It is a great way to supply your body large dose of vitamins and improve digestion.
  • Give up salt, flavour your food with spices which improve liver function, such as garlic and rosemary; dandelion root tea is good for your liver as well.
