Ingredients:
1 cup water
4 green tea bags ( Lipton is good)
4 large baking apples, cored ( Rome or Golden Delicious is good)
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
2 tablespoons raisins (optional)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 teaspoons butter or 4 teaspoons margarine
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*F.
In a 1 quart saucepan, bring water to a boil; remove from heat.
Add tea bags and brew 1 1/2 minutes, dunking occasionally.
Remove tea bags and squeeze; set aside.
Peel top one-third of each apple.
In an 8-inch square baking dish, arrange apples, peeled end up; set aside.
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, walnuts, raisins and cinnamon.
Evenly spoon walnut mixture into center of apples, then evenly top with butter.
Pour tea over and around apples.
Bake apples uncovered, basting occasionally, 1 hour or until tender.
