Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 cup shortening or 1 cup butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups golden seedless raisins
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Sift first six ingredients together.
Cream shortening and sugars; add eggs until well blended.
Gradually stir in dry ingredients.
Fold raisins and nuts into batter.
Drop by rounded teaspoonsful onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for approximately 10 minutes.
Cool on pan briefly, then remove to wire rack to cool completely.
