Ingredients:
3 cups hot mashed potatoes ( , fresh, leftover, or instant)
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder ( I usually add more)
1 1/3 cups French-fried onions
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese ( I like to use sharp)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F.
Combine potatoes, sour cream, milk and garlic powder in a large bowl; mix well.
Spoon half the mixture into a 2 quart lightly greased baking dish.
Sprinkle with 2/3 cup of french fried onions and 1/2 cup of cheese.
Top with remaining potato mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes until hot all the way through.
Top with remaining onions and cheese.
Bake for 5 minutes or until onions are golden.
